LAS VEGAS (AP) - A fiery seven-car crash during a rainstorm in Las Vegas killed four people, including a child, police said.

A car that was recklessly speeding Thursday night rear-ended an SUV with five people inside and forced it into an intersection in a residential area of western Las Vegas near a park with soccer fields, Metro Police said.

Three cars burst into flames.

The driver of the speeding car and three people inside the rear-ended vehicle were killed, including a child. Their names were not immediately made public.

An adult and a juvenile were pulled from the SUV that was hit. People who saw the accident risked their lives to rescue them, Capt. Jason Letkiewicz told KLAS-TV. He said the two who were rescued suffered critical injuries but were expected to survive.

The car that caused the collision was speeding, Letkiewicz said.

“We would say reckless driving was the cause of this accident,” he said.

The deaths bring the 2019 total for traffic fatalities in Las Vegas to 109, Metro Police said in a statement on Friday.
