MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) - Vermont’s unemployment rate rose slightly to 2.3% in November, the state labor department said Friday.
The monthly rate was one tenth of a percentage point higher than in October. The national rate for November was 3.5%,
“As we reach the end of the year, we are reminded that Vermont experienced one of the lowest unemployment rates in the country in 2019,” Acting Labor Commmissioner Michael Harrington said in a written statement. “While it’s good news to have fewer people who are unemployed, this record low also brought challenges for employers looking for qualified workers. Strengthening our workforce has been a top priority.”
Around the state, the jobless rate for November ranged from 1.7% in White River Junction to 3.6% in Derby.
