Chris Cuomo says the Christian defenses of President Trump that he’s seeing should have no merit and should be wholly rejected.

The “Cuomo Prime Time” host spoke to former Wisconsin Rep. Sean Duffy and excoriated the Catholic for supporting Mr. Trump.

“Why would I take that message from you when you refuse to call out the person who says the ugliest things most constantly?” Mr. Cuomo asked the Republican on Monday.

The CNN’s host’s comment was in reference to Mr. Trump’s joke that Speaker Nancy Pelosi forgot to include bribery in her articles of impeachment because her “teeth were falling out of her mouth, and she didn’t have time to think.”

“Your party basically wants to make Christianity the religion of this country, but certainly the guiding light of its party,” Mr. Cuomo said, NewsBusters reported. “This is my point: If you want to hold yourself as a Christian, you can’t make any of the arguments you’re making right now.”

Mr. Duffy rejected the host’s premise that he or Christians who support the president are making invalid arguments.

The former congressman said that a double standard appears to exist as it pertains to how Democrats and Republicans are allowed to respond to personal attacks.

“[Mrs. Pelosi] says she prays for him every day and doesn’t hate him,” Mr. Cuomo said. “Why can’t he say something gratuitously nice?”

Mr. Cuomo added that calls for the freedom of religion are often “translated into the ability to discriminate against others” by Christians.
