Sen. Lindsey Graham said it’s important to get to the roots of the whole whistleblower claim that fueled the impeachment train forward in the House, but that he’s not going to use the Senate to call witness after witness, to hold hearing after hearing, or to prolong the “crock” and “sham” of the whole takedown of President Donald Trump — for the good of the country.

Graham has a good point.

After months and months of the House impeachment charade, after years and years of leftist-pressed, Democratic Party push for calls for impeachment, promises to impeach, insistence to impeach, impeach, impeach at all costs, wouldn’t it be great — humorous, even — to see all that anti-Trump partisan effort come to a grinding halt in the Senate?

It’ll be like the adults finally enter the room.

Trump, somewhat rightfully, somewhat righteously, wants the Republican-controlled Senate to do a tit-for-tat type of act on the impeachment articles and bring to the forefront, with widespread media coverage, all the offenses of the Democrats — all the Joe-Biden-Hunter-Buden-Burisma curiosities, all the FISA court and warrant improprieties, all the FBI shenanigans and their various political whistleblowing ties.

But as Graham noted: The Senate can do those investigations outside the circus of impeachment.

And so it should be.

Why legitimize what’s been an abysmal Democratic abuse of power?

Let’s wrap by lunchtime, so to speak.

“I’m going to treat it as the sham it is for the future of the presidency itself,” Graham said, in an interview on Fox News amid the House Judiciary Committee’s latest debate on impeachment. “What they’ve done in the House is a danger.”

Exactly.

Secret testimony?

Behind-closed door discussions?

That’s not America.

That’s not constitutional.

“What I’d like to happen is this thing to get over as soon as possible,” Graham said. “I don’t want to give this any legitimacy because this is a crock. … This is being driven by Democratic partisans. … Abuse of power? If you’re looking for it, my Democrat colleagues, look in the mirror.”

Graham said his choice is to end the charade within a week.

“This is dangerous for the country,” he said. “I don’t need any witnesses at all. I am ready to go. … This thing is a sham, a crock. I won’t want to give any legitimacy to it. I want it over.”

Quite right. Gold star for Lindsey Graham.

Because truthfully, so do the American people.
