NEW CASTLE, Del. (AP) - The director of Delaware’s Division of Social Services has returned to work after being on paid for nearly a month while officials investigated a complaint.

Ray Fitzgerald was welcomed back to work Wednesday after an investigation found the complaint was unfounded, The News Journal of Wilmington reported. Officials haven’t released details about the complaint, citing the department’s policy to not discuss personnel matters.

The office oversees food stamp benefits and Medicaid eligibility. Fitzgerald has been with the state Department of Health and Social Services since 2006 and became the director of his division in 2015.

The newspaper’s report didn’t include comment from Fitzgerald.
