PETERSON, Utah (AP) - A truck driver may have experienced a medical problem before he was killed in a fiery crash on Interstate 84 in northern Utah, the Highway Patrol said Tuesday.
The driver killed late Monday in Morgan County was identified as 59-year-old Jimmie Grundie of Brigham City.
Grundie’s big rig was traveling eastbound near Peterson when it left a traffic lane and veered to the right before striking a concrete barrier and rolling on one side, the Highway Patrol said.
The truck and trailer then slid down the highway as sparks and heat ignited fuel and set vehicle on fire, engulfing it in flames, the Highway Patrol said.
The truck was carrying food products.
Cause of the crash is under investigation.
