PHOENIX (AP) - Authorities say the driver of a big rig spotted going the wrong way on Interstate 10 in Phoenix was arrested early Friday morning.
State Department of Public Safety officials said troopers who pulled over the truck near 27th Avenue around 3 a.m. suspected he was impaired.
The driver’s identity was not released and no additional information was immediately available.
Metro Phoenix has had a spate of crashes and other incidents of wrong-way vehicles on freeways, and state officials are taking a variety of steps to try to curb the problem.
Those steps including installing “wrong way” signs on freeway off-ramps and testing a camera system on part of Interstate 17 to detect wrong-way vehicles, warn other drivers and notify authorities.
