MIAMI (AP) - Officials say a fixed wing single-engine plane has crashed in South Florida and injured three people.
Federal Aviation Administration spokeswoman Kathleen Bergen says the Piper PA-28 left the Miami Executive Airport early Monday and then crashed in a nearby grassy field.
The Miami Herald reports Miami-Dade Fire Rescue says the crash injured three people. Two were hospitalized and a third person was treated at the scene. Authorities didn’t immediately release their identities or ages.
FAA records show the plane is registered to Osorio Aviation Corp, which state records say became inactive in September for failing to file required reports or other legal guidelines. FAA records say the plane has a valid certificate that expires in 2022.
The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating.
