CINCINNATI (AP) - A prosecutor says a man who served eight years in prison for injuring his girlfriend’s infant son in 2005 has been charged with murder after the boy died this year of complications from those injuries.

Hamilton County Prosecutor Joe Deters’ (DEE’-turz) statement said a grand jury on Thursday indicted 33-year-old Terry Stiles, of Arlington Heights, on a murder charge in the May 2019 death of 14-year-old Carl Leggett, Jr.

Authorities said Stiles admitted to hitting and shaking the then-5-month-old child in 2005.

Officials said the child suffered brain damage and would never walk, see or eat normally. The Hamilton County Coroner’s Office said he died this year of complications from that brain injury and ruled the death a homicide.

Court records don’t list an attorney for Stiles.
