CLEVELAND, Miss. (AP) - Country music artist Garth Brooks is planning to speak to school children in Mississippi next month about “The Power of Songwriting.”
Brooks will discuss songwriting at the Grammy Museum in Cleveland, Mississippi, on Sept. 24, The Commercial Appeal reported.
The event is part of the museum’s “Backstage Pass” series. It will involve more than 140 local students who will hear Brooks speak, answer questions and perform.
Bob Santelli, the founding executive director of the Grammy Museum, will moderate the event.
The students range from 11 to 18 years old and are from schools and arts and education programs throughout Mississippi.
Brooks will “take the students on a journey through his songwriting process, while discussing how songs can share important messages and provide a glimpse into the life of the songwriter,” organizers said in announcing the program.
After the discussion, students will have a chance to ask Brooks questions. He will also do a brief acoustic performance for them.
The Grammy Museum Mississippi in Cleveland, Mississippi, opened in 2016. It is one of only two such museums, with the other one in downtown Los Angeles.
The Mississippi museum is located on the Delta State University campus.
