SEATTLE (AP) - Seattle teachers approved a new union contract that again offers double-digit pay increases.
The Seattle Times reports teachers in Seattle Public Schools will see an 11.1% pay raise over the life of the three-year contract.
Teachers can now expect to make between $63,000 and $124,000.
Classified staff, such as assistants, will receive a 12.1% pay increase by 2022.
The vote ensures school will start on time next week.
Superintendent Denise Juneau said the approval was “an important moment” for the district.
The contract also includes money for racial bias training, the hiring and retention of teachers of color, libraries and funding for addition school counselors and nurses.
Teachers last summer won a 10.5% raise in a one-year contract after threatening to strike.
