ASHBURN — The Washington Redskins received encouraging news on cornerback Fabian Moreau’s ankle injury.
The Redskins cornerback found out he does not need surgery after visiting with doctors Tuesday, coach Jay Gruden said. Gruden also didn’t rule out the 25-year-old being available for Week 1 in Philadelphia.
Moreau suffered the injury two weeks ago against the Cincinnati Bengals. The UCLA product was seen using a medical scooter and wearing a cast around his leg.
Through his first two seasons, Moreau has played in all 16 games, starting 10 of them. He is projected to play as Washington’s slot cornerback with Josh Norman and Quinton Dunbar starting on the outside.
“Now, it’ll just be the healing process,” Gruden said of Moreau’s injury. “We’re hoping to get him ready for Philly.”
