SEATTLE (AP) - A tentative contract deal has been reached between Seattle Public Schools and the teachers union.

The Seattle Times reports the two sides agreed to a draft of the contract Saturday evening.

The teachers union, the Seattle Education Association, announced the action Saturday evening on its Facebook page.

The union’s general membership is set to vote on the agreement Tuesday. The School Board would then need to approve it.

The agreement comes after the union’s increased public demonstrations. The union had said Wednesday the two sides were still unaligned with their teacher compensation proposals.

The union has said it seeks more than the 2% raise proposed by the district, but declined last week to disclose its counter proposal.

Last year, a one-year agreement was reached after the union authorized a strike.
