BANGOR, Maine (AP) - The American Folk festival is getting underway in earnest on the riverfront in Bangor, Maine.
There’s something for everyone with Korean percussion, an Albanian accordion player, Colombian Joropo music, Afro-Caribbean Garifuna music and Navajo music and dance.
The three-day event kicked off Friday evening and wraps up on Sunday.
The American Folk Festival grew out of the National Folk Festival hosted in Bangor from 2002 to 2004.
Residents enjoyed it so much that they launched their own folk festival the following year, and it’s continued on ever since.
