HALF MOON BAY, Calif. (AP) - The Latest on a plane crash near San Francisco (all times local):
10:10 p.m.
The pilot of a plane that crashed in the ocean and sank south of San Francisco says he’d only bought the aircraft only a few weeks ago.
Authorities say the single-engine Beechcraft Bonanza went down shortly before 6 p.m. Tuesday off of Half Moon Bay, not far from the local airport.
The pilot and his woman passenger got out of the plane safely and floated in the water until they were rescued by the U.S. Coast Guard.
The pilot tells KGO-TV that he had bought the plane only a few weeks ago and was on a photo shoot over the coast when the plane lost power and he skipped it over the water to a stop.

Authorities have rescued two people after their small plane crashed and sank in the ocean south of San Francisco.
Ian Gregor of the Federal Aviation Administration says the single-engine Beechcraft Bonanza went down shortly before 6 p.m. Tuesday.
Two people on board got out of the aircraft before it sank in Half Moon Bay.
The plane went down about 4 miles off the coast and not far from the Half Moon Bay Airport.
The San Mateo County Sheriff’s say the two were rescued with no injuries.
There’s no word yet on what caused the plane to crash.

Authorities say a small plane has crashed in the ocean south of San Francisco but two people aboard got out of the aircraft before it sank.
There’s no immediate word on their conditions.
It landed in Half Moon Bay about four miles off the coast and not far from the Half Moon Bay Airport.
The U.S. Coast Guard says it’s responding to the area.
There’s no word yet on what caused the plane to crash.
