PHOENIX (AP) - For the second consecutive day and third time this month, Phoenix has broken a heat record.

The National Weather Service says Phoenix reached a high of 114 degrees on Wednesday afternoon. That topped the previous mark for Aug. 21 of 110 that was set in 2007.

Phoenix’s high Tuesday was 113 degrees, besting the previous record of 112 for Aug. 20 established in 1986.

On Aug. 5, Phoenix hit 115 degrees to break the previous mark of 114 for that date that was set in 1969.

Meteorologists say the weather in Phoenix is expected to be a little cooler for the rest of this week.
