GARDEN CITY, N.Y. (AP) - A lawyer for a man who police say caused a four-car crash that killed two people on Long Island says his client suffered a seizure that caused the crash.
Lawyer William Petrillo tells Newsday that his client Thomas Bochichio had a “sudden, unforeseen, severe seizure” when he was driving on the Meadowbrook Parkway on Sunday.
New York state police say the BMW that the 22-year-old Bochichio was driving crashed into three other vehicles, killing two people. Bochichio was treated for minor injuries.
Petrillo says Bochichio and his family are “deeply distraught” over the loss of life. He says Bochichio is cooperating with the investigation into the crash.
A state police spokesman says Bochichio’s medical history is part of the investigation. No charges have been filed.
