HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - Gov. Ned Lamont is asking Connecticut legislative leaders to work with him on reviewing the state’s quasi-public agencies, a couple of which have come under scrutiny for their management practices.

Considered more nimble than a traditional state agency, quasi-publics are state-chartered, privately managed organizations that take on public missions.

In a letter sent Friday, the Democrat said it’s important to involve the lawmakers in the planned “expansive overall review” of the agencies, considering they typically appoint members to the various boards of directors.

There are more than a dozen quasi-public agencies in Connecticut state government.

Lamont has already enlisted his top advisers to take a closer look at the management of the entities that run the lottery and market the state’s ports. He hopes to meet with lawmakers in September.
