The Washington Wizards continued to restructure their front office Wednesday — and this time, they brought in a familiar face.
Washington hired former NBA forward Antawn Jamison to be its director of pro personnel, the team announced. Jamison spent six of his 16 seasons with the Wizards, averaging 20.8 points and 8.9 rebounds per game. He made the All-Star Game twice and the playoffs four times with the Wizards.
Jamison has served the last two years as a scout with the Los Angeles Lakers.
The Wizards restructured their front office this offseason, with owner Ted Leonsis forming “Monumental Basketball” — a group which aims to create synergy between the Wizards, Mystics, Capital City Go-Go and Wizards District Gaming. Leonsis hired Tommy Sheppard to be the Wizards’ general manager, as well as adding former NFL executive Sashi Brown, former Georgetown coach John Thompson III and Daniel Medina in various roles. The Wizards have also hired former Clippers executive Johnny Rogers to be their vice president of pro personnel.
“We are absolutely thrilled to bring Antawn back to the Wizards organization,” Sheppard said. “In addition to his strong feel for the game and basketball knowledge, he has always been a true professional and a dedicated worker. We look forward to him bringing those qualities to our front office.”
The Wizards also hired Laron Profit and John Carideo as scouts.
