MONTEBELLO, Calif. (AP) - Authorities say three men have been arrested on suspicion of stealing a police SUV that was found stripped and dumped in Southern California’s Angeles National Forest.

The Montebello Police Department announced in May that the marked Ford Explorer was taken from a police parking lot in the city 12 miles (19 kilometers) east of Los Angeles. It was found more than a month later down an embankment off a remote highway.

KCBS-TV reports Wednesday that three men in their 20s were arrested this week. Eddy Saldivar, Hunter Crist and Matthew Moran could face charges including grand theft. It’s not known if they have attorneys.

Police say a Remington shotgun and a portion of a loaded AR-15 rifle that were in the vehicle have been recovered.
