SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (AP) - Authorities have released the name of the man shot to death in Springfield, Massachusetts earlier this week.
The Hampden district attorney’s office said Thursday that 28-year-old William Fernandez-Martinez was found by officers on the sidewalk just after midnight Wednesday suffering from what appeared to be multiple gunshot wounds.
The officers had been flagged down by by-standers.
Officers administered CPR before the ambulance arrived. The victim was taken to Baystate Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
No arrests have been announced.
Masslive.com reports that Fernandez-Martinez had a gun in his hand when he was found. Friends say he was originally from Puerto Rico but had lived in Springfield for six or seven years. They described him as “humble and kind.”
