BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) - A Vermont man who is facing a first-degree murder charge in the shooting death of his wife has pleaded guilty to 11 counts of mail fraud against his former employer.

The Caledonian-Record reports 59-year-old Randall Swartz, of Orleans, entered the plea in federal court in Burlington last week. He faces sentencing.

Swartz has been held without bail since May 2018, when he was found at home with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. His wife, Thea Swartz, was found dead from a gunshot wound. He’s pleaded not guilty in that case.

The mail fraud charges are related to the theft of equipment from his former employer, the Agri-Mark Cabot cheese-making plant in Cabot.

Investigators said he bought parts with company funds and used them to build machines for personal use.
