President Trump said Tuesday the European Union “has taken advantage” of U.S. trade, and “it will soon stop!”

“The World Trade Organization finds that the European Union subsidies to Airbus has adversely impacted the United States, which will now put Tariffs on $11 Billion of EU products! The EU has taken advantage of the U.S. on trade for many years. It will soon stop,” he tweeted.

Mr. Trump has blasted the European Union in the past, labeling it as “difficult” and a “foe” of the U.S. while visiting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Helsinki, Finland, last July.

“I think we have a lot of foes. I think the European Union is a foe, what they do to us in trade,” Mr. Trump told CBS News in excerpts of an interview released Sunday. “Now you wouldn’t think of the European Union, but they’re a foe.”

“In a trade sense, they’ve really taken advantage of us, and many of those countries are in NATO, and they weren’t paying their bills,” the president added.
