BLYTHEVILLE, Ark. (AP) - Authorities are investigating a fatal officer-involved shooting at an inn in northeast Arkansas.
The Arkansas State Police said Monday they were looking into the death of 35-year-old Marzues Scott after he was shot and killed by a Blytheville police officer during a “scuffle.”
Officials say Blytheville police responded to a disturbance call at a convenience store around 11:30 p.m. Sunday. Officials say police found Scott, identified as a suspect, across the street at the inn.
According to police, Scott allegedly attacked the officer, who shot him. Scott died at a local hospital. The officer sustained minor injuries.
The state crime lab will determine the manner and cause of Scott’s death. State police will investigate whether the use of deadly force by an officer was consistent with state law.
