Health authorities say a woman in her 20s is the first confirmed case of measles in Orange County this year.

The county’s Health Care Agency says Tuesday that the woman is from Placentia and recently traveled overseas.

She is recovering at home.

Officials warn that the woman may have exposed others to the disease at various locations between April 23rd and 27th, including an AMC Theater and the St. Jude Emergency Department in Fullerton.

Authorities on Tuesday also confirmed a sixth confirmed case of measles in Los Angeles County. It also involves someone who recently returned from an overseas trip.

Los Angeles County public health officials say they have confirmed a new case of measles that is unrelated to two reported last week that resulted in the quarantining of hundreds of Los Angeles university students and staff members.

The Department of Public Health said Tuesday the latest case involved a county resident who recently returned from a trip overseas.

The case has no connection to the recent outbreak that triggered quarantines at the University of California, Los Angeles, and California State University, Los Angeles.

No quarantine has been issued and the infected person was not identified.

It brings to six the number of LA County residents infected with measles this year. There have been a small number of other cases among non-residents who traveled through the county at Los Angeles International Airport.

Fewer than 100 students and staff members at two Los Angeles universities remain quarantined following their possible exposure to measles.

California State University, Los Angeles, reported Tuesday that 70 students and employees were still under a quarantine launched last week after it was learned that hundreds of people might have come in contact with an infected student in a campus library.

The University of California, Los Angeles, reported 27 people still isolated after being exposed to an infected student in a classroom. The quarantine there is set to be lifted at the end of the day.

At Cal State-LA, the quarantine will expire on Thursday.

A total of nearly 800 people at both campuses were ordered isolated.

Those already released had been vaccinated or were immune because they previously had the disease.
