Randy Credico, a former Roger Stone associate, has been subpoenaed to testify in Mr. Stone’s upcoming November trial, The Hill reported Tuesday.
Mr. Credico, a New York radio host, received his subpoena from the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Washington a few weeks ago.
In January, Mr. Stone was indicted by special counsel Robert Mueller, who later handed the case off to federal prosecutors in Washington.
The indictment alleges Mr. Stone lied about coordinating with WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange during the 2016 election. Prosecutors also say Mr. Stone was aware of WikiLeaks plan to leak damaging emails hacked from the Democratic National Committee and Hillary Clinton’s campaign.
Mr. Stone told lawmakers in September 2017 that he had no direct connection to Mr. Assange and Mr. Credico, a liberal activist, was his backchannel. Mr. Credico has denied the allegation and has not been charged with a crime.
An attorney for Mr. Credico, Martin Stolar, told The Hill, the subpoena was “standard operating procedure.”
“It’s a natural consequence,” Mr. Stolar told the publication, adding the subpoena relates to testimony and not documents.
Mr. Stone also faces a witness tampering charge related to Mr. Credico testimony before who lawmakers. Prosecutors say Mr. Stone allegedly threatened Mr. Credico, who says he ended his friendship with the long-time GOP political trickster.
