Eric Trump, President Trump’s middle son and executive vice president of the Trump Organization, said Tuesday congressional subpoenas to Deutsche Bank and Capital One requesting his father’s and the company’s financial records are the work of “the deep state.”
“It’s so sad because this is presidential harassment 101. My father always talked about the deep state on the campaign trail. This is the deep state,” Mr. Trump said in an interview with Fox News Network’s “Fox & Friends.”
“We’re saying this is presidential harassment. This is all these people do. They’re not winning. The economy is incredible. This country is doing great. … So what do they want to do, they don’t want to do their jobs. They want to harass Trump,” he continued.
He added Democrats were “deranged,” and he said they are harassing the Trump family because “they’re not winning on the issues.”
“This is the deep state at work. This is what my father talked about during the campaign,” Mr. Trump said.
The president and his children Donald Jr., Eric and Ivanka all sued Deutsche Bank and Capital One in attempts to block subpoenas as part of House investigations into their finances.
