EAST CHICAGO, Ind. (AP) - Officials have released the name of a steelworker who died in a train accident at the ArcelorMittal Indiana Harbor steel mill in northwestern Indiana.

The Lake County Coroner’s Office identified the man as 49-year-old Edwin L. Fleming of Schererville, Indiana.

ArcelorMittal spokeswoman Mary Beth Holdford says the worker died Tuesday when the engine the worker at the East Chicago mill was operating struck a railcar on an adjacent track in a raw materials yard. The (Northwest Indiana) Times reports Fleming worked for the steelmaker for nearly 17 years.

The death is under investigation.

The death is the first at ArcelorMittal’s Indiana Harbor steel mill since two occurred there in 2017, one in a crane accident and the other in a buggy accident.
