RIVERSIDE, Calif. (AP) - A California father has pleaded not guilty to the murder of his 8-year-old son who was reported missing more than three weeks ago.

The Press-Enterprise reports that 32-year-old Bryce McIntosh entered the plea in a Riverside court on Wednesday.

McIntosh was scheduled to appear on Tuesday but didn’t due to a medical condition. His lawyer declined to discuss it.

McIntosh is due back in court April 16.

Authorities say they believe McIntosh killed his son Noah and bought gloves, acid, drain opener and a trash can two days after the boy’s mother said she last saw him at McIntosh’s home in Corona some 40 miles (65 kilometers) southeast of Los Angeles.

He and the boy’s mother are both also charged with child abuse.
