WILDWOOD, Mo. (AP) - The parents of a 7-year-old girl fatally struck by an SUV outside a father-daughter dance are suing the Rockwood School District, the Missouri Department of Transportation and the city of Wildwood.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that Susan and John Bick filed suit earlier this month, claiming negligent and hazardous road and property conditions contributed to the death of their daughter, Rachel Bick.

Rachel was killed April 16, 2016, when she was struck by a Ford Explorer near Babler Elementary School. Police concluded the death appeared to be an accident.

Rockwood Superintendent Eric Knost says the accident remains heartbreaking for the district. MoDOT declined comment. Messages left Thursday with Wildwood officials were not immediately returned.

A wrongful death lawsuit filed by the parents against the driver was settled last year.
