The Washington Redskins’ last first-round quarterback took a thinly-veiled shot at the team Thursday night upon drafting Ohio State quarterback Dwayne Haskins.
Robert Griffin III posted on Twitter a “congrats young gun” tweet while implying that the Redskins give up too easily on their quarterback draft choices.
“You didn’t draft the young man for nothing. You did it because you believe in the young man. You did it because you need a Quarterback. Don’t give up on him prematurely. He is your investment. Give the kid time to prove himself,” he wrote.

Griffin, now a backup with the Baltimore Ravens, neither tagged Haskins nor even used the word “Redskins” in his tweet, but the implication wasn’t subtle, or missed.
One of the earliest response tweets, from a user named “Big Tyme Skier,” posted a popular meme of Rachel McAdams in the movie “Mean Girls.” It was labeled “Redskins fans” and asks “why are you so obsessed with me.”
Earlier in the day, Griffin had tweeted a photo of himself on the day the Redskins drafted him in 2012, mortgaging their next couple years of draft choices to move up to the No. 2 pick and grab the Heisman Trophy winner.
He won Rookie of the Year and led the Redskins to a division title in his first season, but the rest of his career has been plagued with injuries and inconsistent play.
