The Washington Redskins chose Ohio State quarterback Dwayne Haskins No. 15 overall in the NFL draft, likely cementing their quarterback of the future.
But not everybody in the Redskins’ orbit was happy with the choice.
Former Redskins tight end and current radio commentator Chris Cooley said he didn’t love — or even like — the pick. But he said he’ll keep an open mind on Haskins proving him wrong.
Don’t love it. Don’t even really like it. I have to come around tho. Hopefully Haskins comes in and proves me wrong.

Reports before the draft noted the Redskins’ front office was split over Haskins, as noted by podcaster and former radio commentator Kevin Sheehan after the pick was solidified.
Building was split. Snyder wanted an organizational/roster jolt. Bruce liked him too. Others, not so much at 15. Haskins won’t sell many tickets but there will be intrigue to see if he can play. Could prove to be Dan & Bruce’s finest moment but I’m not betting on it. #Redskins

Grant Paulsen of 106.7 The Fan was more positive about the selection, noting what it meant off the field as well as on it:
The #Redskins have needed a splash move all offseason. The thought was they are losing fan attention and energy. One way to reinvigorate a base and manufacture excitement? Drafting a QB from your own backyard. Do they?

One gathering of Redskins faithful was ecstatic at the prospect of a new franchise quarterback coming to town. Here’s the reaction at the team’s official “draft party” at The Anthem in the District:
