The Redskins are reportedly targeting quarterback Dwayne Haskins in Thursday’s first round of the NFL draft, but not everyone within the organization apparently feels that is the right choice.
ESPN reports that some prefer Duke’s Daniel Jones over Haskins, who owner Daniel Snyder and team president Bruce Allen are “fixated on.” Further, Grant Paulsen from 106.7 FM The Fan said he was told coach Jay Gruden and others prefer Jones over Haskins.

The rumors of Washington’s interest in Haskins have grown over the past few days. ESPN reported the Redskins like the quarterback’s local ties as Haskins went to high school with Snyder’s son in Potomac, Maryland. On Monday, Haskins told the NFL Network that he felt like something was “there” with the Redskins. The 21-year-old is also mentored by former Redskins cornerback Shawn Springs.
Washington has the 15th overall pick, but there has been speculation that the team is looking to move up in the draft to secure Haskins.
Internal disagreement over a prospect isn’t that unusual. Redskins senior vice president of player personnel Doug Williams said Monday that not everyone is on the same page in pre-draft meetings.
“When you have got 18 to 20 guys in the room the chance of 18 to 20 guys feeling the same way is slim to none and we had those discussions,” Williams said.
