OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - The Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals has upheld life prison sentences for a 38-year-old man convicted in the killings of four women at an apartment in Tulsa.
The court handed down the opinion Thursday to James Stanford Poore, who was convicted of four counts of first-degree murder and other charges in the 2013 shooting deaths of 23-year-old twins Rebeika Powell and Kayetie Powell Melchor, 33-year-old Misty Nunley, and 55-year-old Julie Jackson during a robbery inside Powell’s apartment.
Poore’s brother, 45-year-old Cedric Poore, was also convicted in the slayings and sentenced to life in prison. His appeal is pending.
In an unrelated case, the court affirmed the life prison sentence of 56-year-old Leroy Edward Gilbert Jr., who was convicted in the July 30, 1994, slaying of 32-year-old Erma Jean Goodou.
