PHOENIX (AP) - Phoenix police say they’re investigating an alleged threat made by a 15-year-old high school student to blow up a mosque.

Sgt. Tommy Thompson said Wednesday the 15-year-old was in custody and that “charges are still being considered.”

According to Thompson, another student at Pinnacle High school on Monday heard the 15-year-old say he want to “blow up a Muslim church” and on Tuesday saw the other student with a bag contained several pounds of a white powdery substance.

The student reported what he saw to school officials and police responded.

Thompson says the substance was potassium nitrate which can be mixed with other chemicals to create a flash powder. Thompson says no particular mosque was mentioned.

No identities were released.
