White House adviser Kellyanne Conway said former Vice President Joseph R. Biden reportedly declaring his presidential candidacy Thursday is great timing because Democrats are “desperate to find an alternative to Bernie Sanders.”

“I think Biden’s timing actually benefits him because the Democrats seem really desperate to find an alternative to Bernie Sanders, who is the clear announced front-runner right now,” Mrs. Conway said on Wednesday in an interview with Fox News network.

Mrs. Conway also mocked the Democratic party for having candidates running on “identity politics” when the two front runners are “old, white” men.

“Old, white, male career politicians like Bernie Sanders and Joe Biden is not exactly what the Democratic Party had in mind for 2020 when they’re running all these different folks who are talking about identity politics and what makes them different,” she said.

“The women are complaining too. I see women on TV complaining about the female candidates aren’t covered the same. That’s hogwash. They just have terrible ideas, nobody wants a government takeover of healthcare,” Mrs. Conway added.

Mr. Biden is rumored to be announcing his candidacy Thursday to challenge President Trump in the 2020 election, becoming one of more than 20 contestants who has already joined the race.
