President Trump’s approval rating took a five-point dive following the release of special counsel Robert Mueller’s report, a new survey found.
According to a POLITICO/Morning Consult poll released Tuesday, Mr. Trump’s job approval rating fell to 39 percent, his lowest rating since his comments following the deadly 2017 Charlottesville protests.
Some 57 percent disapproved of his job while five percent had no opinion.
In another poll asking who people would vote for if the 2020 presidential election were today, 49 percent said they would “definitely vote for someone else.”
And eight percent said they would “probably vote for someone else,” while 10 percent said they would probably re-elect the president, and 24 percent said they would “definitely vote to re-elect” Mr. Trump.
Despite this news, support for impeaching the president also took a hit, tumbling from 39 percent in January to 34 percent now.
The Justice Department released a redacted version of Mr. Mueller’s report Thursday, with the special counsel concluding Mr. Trump’s team did not conspire with Russia to win the 2016 election but that the president’s attempts to obstruct the investigation could be seen as problematic.
The poll surveyed 1,992 registered voters from April 19th to 21st with a margin of error of plus or minus 2 percent.
