SEATTLE (AP) - A Washington state woman who sued the U.S. Postal Service and a former mail carrier after he trespassed into her home has settled for $20,000.
The Seattle Times reported Monday that the Tacoma woman claimed in the 2016 lawsuit that at least 12 women had complained about Robert Taitano, but the service continued to employ the mail carrier until his arrest.
The woman, who is only identified by her initials in the lawsuit, said Taitano sneaked into her apartment in August 2014 while she was in the shower.
Taitano was convicted of attempted assault with sexual motivation and criminal trespass following the encounter.
A spokesman for the service’s Seattle district says Taitano hasn’t been employed with the service since 2015. The spokesman declined further comment.
