SAYRE, Okla. (AP) - Investigators are questioning a man in connection with the deaths of two people in western Oklahoma that authorities believe are connected.

The Beckham County Sheriff’s Office says the man was taken into custody in Tulsa early Monday. Authorities say he’s a person of interest in separate weekend homicides in Sayre and Elk City.

The investigation began when a person was killed Sunday morning in Elk City, about 106 miles (170 kilometers) west of Oklahoma City. Later Sunday, authorities found the body of another homicide victim in Sayre. Details about the slayings and the victims’ names have not been released, but police believe the deaths are related.

Police in Tulsa took the person of interest into custody about 3 a.m. Monday and found a handgun in the truck he was driving.
