ESPN has yet to replace Jason Witten in the broadcast booth, months after the tight end announced he was rejoining the Dallas Cowboys.
But here’s one name that won’t be filling Witten’s spot: Peyton Manning.
According to Sporting News, Manning — “barring a miracle” — won’t be the main analyst for ESPN’s “Monday Night Football.” ESPN’s Joe Tessitore will continue to do play-by-play and Booger McFarland will move from a sideline analyst to the booth.
ESPN previously met with Manning to discuss the role in March. Instead, Manning will partner with the network for another series on ESPN+.
Manning, one of the best passers of his generation, retired from football in 2016.
