ATLANTA (AP) - A 7-year-old Georgia girl has died 10 days after being wounded in a drive-by shooting while she was sitting on a couch inside a house.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports Mariasia Thomas was staying with a foster family in DeKalb County when the shooting happened April 12. Three bullets struck the front door of the home, and four bullets went through two windows.
Mariasia was shot in the head, and doctors at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta tried to keep her alive. She died Monday.
WSB-TV reports that investigators suspect the shooter might have been targeting the homeowner or someone in her family.
Police are offering a $5,000 reward for any information that leads to an arrest in the case.
