Sen. Tim Kaine said Tuesday President Trump keeps attempting to repeal Obamacare because of his “insecurities of President Obama.”

“The president will say anything, but his actions tell you what’s up. From the very first day in office, his main goal is to get rid of Obamacare primarily because of his insecurities of President Obama. He just wants to get rid of it,” the Virginia Democrat said on CNN’s “New Day” show.

“They’ll get rid of it with no plan in place. They still don’t have a plan. After so many years, they still don’t have a plan, but the action that they’re taking in court would strip health insurance away from millions. … He wants to get rid of health insurance for millions, we want to expand it to millions more,” he added.

Mr. Kaine announced he will introduce a plan called “Medicare X” which would create an optional public health care plan, allowing citizens to keep their employer’s insurance if they wished.

The Trump administration said late March the entire Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare, is unconstitutional, due to Congress’ decision to gut the “individual mandate” to hold insurance.

While Mr. Trump has said Republicans will be known as “the party of health care,” he tweeted Monday they would resume efforts to replace Obamacare “when Republicans hold the Senate & win back the House.”
