PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - Providence Mayor Jorge Elorza says the city will make 700 more electric bicycles available for rental.
The JUMP bike influx will increase the total number of bikes available in the city to 1,100 and expands the service area into multiple city neighborhoods.
JUMP already services downtown, lower and upper South Providence, Federal Hill, Smith Hill and other neighborhoods.
The expansion announced by the Democratic mayor will fully cover neighborhoods already previously covered by JUMP.
JUMP is owned by Uber and bikes can be rented through the Uber app. Renting a bike costs $2 for every half-hour of riding.
