SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) - A South Carolina middle school student is facing charges after allegedly threatening the school.

Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Kevin Bobo says the 13-year-old student at Fairforest Middle School is accused of posting an inappropriate Instagram message Wednesday night implying violence would occur at the school.

Bobo says several parents called 911 about the alleged threat. After conferring with the solicitor’s office, Bobo says the student was detained and charged. It was unclear of the exact charge the teenager faces and whether the student is represented by an attorney.

The student’s name was not released because of his age.
