And you thought the Washington Capitals were rowdy while celebrating their Stanley Cup triumph last summer? At least they didn’t damage the trophy like this.
The New England Patriots posted a video to social media Wednesday evening showing how now-retired tight end Rob Gronkowski got the team’s latest Lombardi Trophy dented.
When the Patriots recently celebrated with the World Series-winning Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park, the football players were taking turns swinging in a batting cage.
Gronkowski took the Lombardi Trophy up with him and assumed a batting stance, then at the last second “laid down a bunt” instead.

The pitch left a nice, round dent in the football portion of the Lombardi.
“Probably not ideal,” teammate Matthew Slater deadpanned.
But when you win so many of the darned things, maybe the luster of having it around wears off.
“If anybody could do it and get away with it,” Duron Harmon added, “it’d be Mr. Gronkowski himself.”
