The Kremlin is unconcerned with the imminent release of special counsel Robert Mueller’s redacted report detailing Moscow’s involvement in the 2016 U.S. presidential race, Russian President Vladimir Putin’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov reportedly said Thursday.

“It is America that is looking forward to the report’s release, but we aren’t. This is not an issue for us, it is not a thing that interests us or causes us concern,” said Mr. Peskov, state media reported.

“All the reports on the matter that have been released so far contain nothing but cursory statements,” Mr. Peskov said about the Mueller report, adding that “we have more interesting and important things to do,” TASS reported.

Mr. Peskov made the reported remarks prior to the scheduled release Thursday morning of Mr. Mueller’s report summarizing his nearly 2-year-long investigation into the 2016 race.

Russians interfered in the 2016 race by exploiting social media platforms and stealing and releasing sensitive documents, Attorney General William P. Barr said during a morning press conference preceding the report’s release.

Mr. Putin has denied interfering in the election as recently as last week, when he dismissed” related claims as “total nonsense aimed mainly at the domestic audience and used in the domestic political struggle in the U.S.”
