PHOENIX (AP) - Arizona’s unemployment rate dropped to 5 percent in March, down from 5.1 percent in February and up from 4.8 percent in March 2018.

The Office of Economic Opportunity’s monthly report issued Thursday said Arizona’s labor force increased by 1,470 since February while the state’s economy added 6,300 nonfarm jobs as the private sector added 7,100 jobs and the government sector lost 800 jobs.

Construction had the biggest increase with 2,900 jobs since February, followed by professional and business services with 2,600 additional jobs.
