CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) - U.S. Rep. Susie Lee praised a ranging set of state-level Democratic priorities during an address before a joint session of the state Legislature.

The Democrat on Wednesday expressed support for efforts to raise the minimum wage, give collective bargaining to state workers and update Nevada’s school funding formula, among other topics.

Lee also thanked Democratic Gov. Steve Sisolak for signing into law a bill that expanded background checks to private gun sales and transfers.

The federal lawmaker condemned U.S. Education Secretary Betsy DeVos, an outspoken supporter of charter schools, and told lawmakers that public education should receive full investment.

She told reporters following the speech that DeVos has been “a very destructive” education secretary.
