ERIE, Pa. (AP) - A driver has pleaded guilty to third-degree murder in the hit-and-run death of a woman in northwestern Pennsylvania that followed an argument over a pit bull.
The Erie Times-News reports that 24-year-old Rebecca Frick’s plea Tuesday came in an agreement with Erie County prosecutors, who dropped other charges and will recommend a 16- to 38-year sentence.
Prosecutors said Frick and 38-year-old Michelle Muir argued outside a gas station Aug. 24, and Frick followed Muir and her boyfriend as they walked away and later drove into Muir and the dog at an intersection.
Muir’s boyfriend said Frick screamed obscenities. Police said Frick said the two were trying to block the road and banged on her car. Frick’s attorney said she opted for the plea based on a review of the evidence.
