President Trump again asserted there was no crime committed — “a fabrication” — as Attorney General William P. Barr is set to release a redacted version of special counsel Robert Mueller’s report on Thursday.
“Well, it showed that it’s a total phony, I don’t have to say that. You just have to take a look at the conclusion. … I heard it’s going to come out on Thursday,” Mr. Trump said in an interview with KSTP ABC 5 Monday.
“That’s good and there can’t be anything there because there was no crime, there was no anything. The crime was committed by the other side. It was all a fabrication,” he continued.
Mr. Trump also tweeted a reminder about the report’s findings Tuesday, saying there was “No Collusion - No Obstruction!”
Mr. Barr announced Monday he will be releasing the redacted version of the report to Congress and the public on Thursday morning.
Despite this, House Democrats have called for the full, uncensored report to be provided to top congressional officials.
The attorney general released the summary of the report last month, saying Mr. Mueller exonerated Mr. Trump and his campaign from any collusion with Russia but chose to not make a determination on obstruction of justice.
Mr. Barr and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein said there is not enough evidence to pursue charges for obstruction of justice.
